Trespass 在英國發行起初並未引起好評,卻在比利時得到銷售榜第一名.紅回英國而堅固Genesis的基底.我個人相當喜愛這張專輯,裡頭任何一首都比Procol Harum - Whiter Shade of Pale 精緻盛美 ,感覺整張專輯充滿神秘的神諭色彩,是一塊看似粗礦無華卻充滿精神能量的璞玉.
其後出版的 Nursery Cryme(1971), Foxtrot(1972) ,Selling England by the Pound (1973), The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway(1974)皆是Genesis在主唱Peter Gabriel為領團靈魂人物時期的前衛搖滾經典之作.
The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway(1974)是該團樂風的分水嶺,該專輯幾乎由鍵盤所主導,寫作期間Peter Gabriel家庭因素較少參與, 鍵盤手Tony Banks加入大量的電子鍵盤演奏,該專輯一般被視為第一代Genesis的巔峰之作.
該專輯巡迴表演結束後Peter Gabriel宣布離團單飛.
後由該團鼓手Phil Collins接棒主唱,沿The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway已奠定的電氣前衛古典風 ,接續出版了 A Trick of the Tail(1976),Wind & Wuthering(1976),And Then There Were Three...(1978),Duke(1980)
直到進入80年代,師老兵疲的Genesis轉風向走向POP,發行Abacab (1980)而一躍成為80年代的流行天團.
雖然Genesis和前衛搖滾說莎呦娜娜,卻催生了大批追隨者仿Genesis自The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway以降,以大量華麗鍵盤為特色的前衛古典風,衍生成搖滾樂壇的一支軍容龐大的Neo- Prog(新古典)樂派.
